Virginia Mourning Her Dead "Many young men and women have interrupted their studies at VMI when called up by the National Guard or Reserve. Since 2001, 75 cadets here have been mobilized to active duty during their time, and 41 of them have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. More than 1,200 graduates of VMI have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan since the start of the War on Terror. Eight of them have not returned."
